Southern California Edison cut power to 140 homes in the Portuguese Bend neighborhood of Rancho Palos Verdes on Sunday due to ongoing land movement creating hazardous conditions and prompting an evacuation warning.
This latest disruption follows the loss of gas service in the area several weeks ago, adding to the challenges faced by residents.
David Eisenhauer, a spokesperson for SoCal Edison, explained, “The land movement has created such a dangerous situation that we had to make the difficult decision to disconnect power indefinitely. We strive to avoid turning off power unless absolutely necessary. In this case, safety takes precedence over providing electrical service, both for the community and our teams.”
